Coming to you LIVE from New Orleans :)
We headed down on Tuesday to spend the week in the Big Easy - and to catch the little football game happening in the Super Dome on Friday. We spent yesterday at the Audubon Zoo. What an AWESOME zoo - kinda puts our little B'ham Zoo to shame. After a little nap yesterday afternoon, we braved the drunken crowd and headed to Bourbon Street last night. Wow. Like my husband said, everyone needs to experience this ONCE in their lifetime. Well... I can cross that one off my list. Like I told Jackson: If one end of the spectrum was Mrs Scarborough's class at GFBC, Bourbon Street in New Orleans was the very opposite end. He did laugh when he saw the signs in the nudie bar, and when we saw the guy with dred-locks, dressed in a gold beaded thong bikini, knee socks, sneakers, and a black hoodie. I just hope that his outfit was a joke....
We simply walked from one end of Bourbon Street to the other, and after that, we'd had more than enough of that scene. Jackson was worried about the cigarette smoke he was breathing - he kept asking me if he'd breathed enough to get lung cancer. We eventually had to go in one of those stores that sells Mardi Gras masks - we bought a creepy clown mask, but it covered Jack's nose, and that made him much more comfortable. The mask also came in pretty handy when we were sitting out by the river, waiting on the fireworks - I wore it for about 20 minutes to keep the wind off my face. I looked pretty stupid wearing a shawl over my hair, a clown mask on my face, and Jackson's light-up "2009" glasses. But, hey - I was warm. AND, I didn't really look all that out of place, in that particular crowd... I have a photo, but no card reader. I'll post it when I get home, K?
Today, we are headed to Jackson Square, the French Quarter, and all those famous tourist-y places to take photos. And, I WILL have a beignet and some chickory coffee today at some point. Pep rally at 2:30. Aquarium sometime after that.....
Tomorrow, who knows.
Friday, ROLL TIDE!!!
Home Saturday.
See you then!
Oh, and for those keeping a count, I only have like 2 more months until I am a mother of 2 :)
